DECR representative attends International Interreligious Youth Forum in Moscow

On November 23, the National Center "Russia" in Moscow hosted the International Interreligious Youth Forum organized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.
The Forum has become a large-scale platform for promoting traditional spiritual and moral values among young people.
Attending the event were Bishop Serafim of Istra, chairman of the Synodal Department for Youth Affairs; Andrei V. Tretyakov of the Presidential Domestic Policy Directorate;Renat V. Islyamov, Deputy Chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation for Education and Science; Sergei V. Kirishov, chairman of the Central Spiritual Board of Buddhists; Rabbi Jonathan Feldman, head of the Education Department of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia; Sergei V. Ryakhovsky, Chief Bishop of the Russian United Union of Christians of the Evangelical Faith (Pentecostals); Oleg Yu. Goncharov, first deputy chairman of the Euro-Asian Division of the General Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church; Bishop Ivan S. Laptev of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ingria; Konstantin I. Mogilevsky, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation; Yu.Yu.Leskin, Deputy Head of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh), and other persons, totaling over 600 leaders of traditional religions, representatives of government authorities, the expert community, and students from secular and religious educational institutions.
Hieromonk Grigory (Matrusov) took part in the forum with the blessing of Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate's Department for External Church Relations, and read out his greetings to the participants.
In their addresses, the religious leaders unanimously noted that the main goal of the forum is the harmonization of interreligious relations, the development of interreligious dialogue and cooperation based on adherence to traditional spiritual and moral values.
Student choir of the Sretensky Theological Academy performed at the forum.
After the plenary session, there were held sections on the most pressing issues related to spiritual and social life at present.
