A representative of the Russian Orthodox Church visits the Dormition Patriarchal convent in Lattakia governorate

On November 6–7, Archimandrite Philip (Vasiltsev), representative of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ to the Antiochian Patriarchal Throne, visited the Patriarchal convent of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos in Lattakia governorate in Syria at the invitation of His Beatitude Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East.
Archimandrite Philip was received by Abbess Makrina (Iskaf), took part in divine services, and had brotherly talk with Archimandrite Paul (Orduloglo), who was elected and appointed Bishop of Tartus, as well as with the clergy of the abode, the website of the Representation of the Russian Orthodox Church in Damascus reports.
Archimandrite Philip was accompanied by deacon Athanasius Bitar, an employee of the secretariat of His Beatitude Patriarch John X.
On November 8, Archimandrite Philip led a pilgrimage of the community of the Russian Orthodox Church’s metochion in Lebanon to the St. James the Persian Convent in Dedde, Metropolis of Tripoli of the Antiochian Orthodox Church, the metochion’s website reports.
The pilgrims talked with Abbess Fevronia (Konstantinidis) and the sisters, and prayed at St. Michael’s church at the Liturgy celebrated by Archimandrite Philip.
