Conference marking centenary of Holy Patriarch Tikhon’s blessed repose takes place at Russian House in Sofia

On October 11, on the initiative of the Metochion of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ in Sofia, Bulgaria, a conference was held at the Russian House, marking the centenary of the blessed repose of Saint Tikhon the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia.
The event gathered numerous guests, including the Metochion parishioners, members of the local youth association, Sunday school pupils and clergy of the Sofia Archdiocese.
Among the guests of honour were Ms E.V. Mitrofanova, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Bulgaria; Mr V.Yu. Solodkin, First Secretary of the Russian Embassy; Mr T.M. Dudayev, Director of the Russian House in Sofia; Ikonom-Stavrophoros Kiril Didov, Rector of the Church of Sophia the Wisdom of God; Ikonom Ioan Kukov, Rector of the Rotunda Church of the Holy Great Martyr George the Victory-Bearer; Ikonom Dilyan Tsvetkov, Rector of the Church of Prophet Elijah; and Archpriest Georgi Spasov, Rector of the Church of St Petka of the Saddlers.
Archpriest Vladimir Tyshchuk, Rector of the Patriarchal Metochion in Sofia, delivered a greeting speech. After that, the guests were shown a documentary about St. Tikhon’s life and ministry, Metochion’s website reports.
It was followed by a concert of the Patriarchal Metochion Choir, which performed hymns in commemoration of the Holy Patriarch Tikhon. Archpriest Vladimir Tyshchuk read out the Message of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’ on the occasion of the centenary of St. Tikhon’s blessed repose.
Participants in the conference delivered addresses on various periods in the life and ministry of the Holy Patriarch Tikhon, highlighting his pastoral labours and sufferings as confessor during the years of persecution.
An award ceremony marked the conclusion of the conference. Father Vladimir Tyshchuk presented awards to the winners and participants of the annual amateur photo contest entitled “My Favourite Church in Sofia.” The contest was organized by the Patriarchal Metochion.
