On the Day of the Baptism of Rus', Russian Church in Antalya рosts screening of the movie "The Cross over Russia"

DECR Communication Service, 31.07.2025
On July 28, 2025, parishioners of the Moscow Patriarchate’s church in Antalya (Republic of Turkey) were among the first viewers of the film "The Cross over Russia", produced by the Spas TV channel. Premieres took place at various venues, including in Crimea as well as in countries such as Turkey, Kazakhstan, Zambia, and Uzbekistan.
The documentary, through the stories of contemporary missionaries, historians, artists, and ordinary people, demonstrates that the Baptism of Rus’ by Prince Vladimir on the Dnieper River is an event of fundamental importance for every person living in Russia today. The centuries-long history of the country and its spiritual legacy - manifested in literature, painting, music, philosophy, and science - became possible thanks to what took place then. The film offers viewers answers to questions such as how Christianity took root in Rus’, what the spiritual meaning of the Sacrament of Baptism is, and how it transforms human life, as well as how today’s followers of Prince Vladimir’s mission live and preach the Word of God in remote regions of Russia.
The screening in Turkey was made possible with the support of the federal agency Rossotrudnichestvo, which provided the film materials for the Russian House in Antalya. The event took place at the Moscow Patriarchate’s Spiritual and Educational Center in the city.
Following the group viewing, the “Russian Choir” of Antalya performed for the audience. The event concluded with a friendly tea gathering, the “Russian Hour.”
