Metropolitan Grigory of Voskresensk performs lesser consecration of the Moscow Church of St. George the Victory-Bearer in Gruziny

On 7th July 2025, the feast of the Nativity of St. John the Prophet, Forerunner and Baptist of the Lord, Metropolitan Grigory of Voskresensk, first vicar of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ for the city of Moscow, administrator of the Central Vicariate, performed the Lesser Consecration of the Church of St. George the Victory-Bearer in Gruziny, Moscow, and officiated at the Divine Liturgy in the newly consecrated church.
Among his concelebrants were Bishop Vakhtang of Nikortsminda (Georgian Orthodox Church); Archimandrite Seraphim (Shemyatovsky), Representative of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia to the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’; Archpriest Feodor Krechetov, rector of the Church of St. George the Victory-Bearer in Gruziny; Archimandrite Alexander (Kotov), cleric of the Church of Saints Peter and Paul at Yauza Gates – Moscow Metochion of the Serbian Orthodox Church; as well as clerics of St. George Church and the Moscow clergy.
The divine service was celebrated in the Georgian and Church Slavonic languages, website of the Moscow City Diocese reports. After the Liturgy, prayers of praise to St. John the Baptist were offered.
Metropolitan Grigory of Voskresensk conveyed to the worshippers the Primatial blessing from His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’ and delivered a homily.
