A representative of the Russian Orthodox Church expresses condolences to His Beatitude Patriarch John X over terrorist attack at the cathedral in Damascus

On June 25, in the parish hall of the Holy Cross church in Damascus, His Beatitude Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East received condolences from the bishops, clergy, and faithful of the Orthodox Church of Antioch, as well as from representatives of Christian denominations, the Muslim Ummah, and government institutions, political, public and cultural organizations of Syria. The condolences were offered over the death of parishioners during Divine Liturgy celebrated at the Mar Elias Church in Damascus on Sunday. Twenty-five people were killed, more than sixty were injured.
Among those expressing condolences was Archimandrite Philip (Vasiltsev), representative of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus' to the Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, the website of the Representation reports.
Earlier, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’ and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation extended their condolences over the terrorist attack.
The oldest hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Juvenaly (Poyarkov), expressed his condolences and support to the Antiochian Orthodox Church in a fraternal talk with Metropolitan Niphon of Philippopolis, representative of the Patriarch of Antioch to the Moscow Patriarchal Throne.
