Serbian bishop heads celebrations for the patronal feast day of the metochion of the Russian Orthodox Church in Belgrade.

DECR Communication service, 12.06.2025.
On 9th June 2025, which was Holy Spirit Day, the auxiliary bishop of the His Holiness the Patriarch of Serbia Porfirije the bishop of Novo Brdo Hilarion celebrated the Divine Liturgy on the occasion of the patronal feast day of the Holy Trinity Church which is the metochion of the Russian Orthodox Church in Belgrade.
Concelebrating with the bishop were the metochion dean archpriest Vitaly Tarasev and the following clerics of the Serbian Orthodox Church: dean of the faculty of theology in Belgrade archpriest Zoran Ranković, the rector of the Church of Saint Mark archpriest Branislav Borota, archpriest Nebosja Topolić, Father Jovan Jevtenić, Father Miodrag Nešić, protodeacon Stefan Rapajić and deacon Boris Ružić.
Among those gathered at the service were Rade Petrović, the chairman of the municipal authorities of the capital of Serbia.
In his sermon after the reading of the Gospel bishop Hilarion expressed his joy at the opportunity on this festive day to celebrate the Divine Liturgy in the Holy Trinity Church which he had attended as a young man and where he would make his confession to the now departed former rector archpriest Vasily. “One could feel that this was a church filled with prayer, a haven where Christians could go to escape the elements of this world,” said the bishop. He also noted the importance of the spiritual ties between the Russian and Serbian Orthodox Churches and the peoples who make up their spiritual flock.
At the end of the Divine Liturgy archpriest Vitaly Tarasev welcomed bishop Hilarion. He mentioned the abundant grace of the Holy Spirit which is given to people by opening their eyes to the fact that, as Saint Seraphim of Sarov said, “the true aim of the Christian life is the acquisition of the Holy Spirit of God.”
In his reply the bishop of Novo Brdo Hilarion once more emphasized the importance of preserving the spiritual unity of the Serbian and Russian Churches.
After the service a festive reception was held in the hall of the parish house.
