A Moleben was served before the relics of St. Cyril Equal-to-the-Apostles in Rome

DECR Communication service, 05/24/2025
On May 24, the feast day of Saints Cyril and Methodius, Equal-to-the-Apostles and Enlighteners of the Slavs, Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, Chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, and Metropolitan Nestor of Korsun and Western Europe, Patriarchal Exarch of Western Europe, served a moleben (supplicatory prayer service) at the Basilica of St. Clement in Rome.
For centuries, this church has enshrined the relics of St. Cyril Equal-to-the-Apostles, who reposed in the Eternal City in 869.
During the service, special prayers were offered for His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus', who was celebrating his name day.
Among those present in the church were D.A. Pushkova, Director of the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Rome; representatives of the Embassy of Belarus in Italy; parishioners of the Russian Orthodox Church’s parishes in Rome; and pilgrims.
At the conclusion of the moleben, a solemn polychronion ("Many Years!") was proclaimed in honor of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill.
