DECR Chairman attends a meeting of the Russia-Islamic World Strategic Vision Group

On April 21, the Reception House of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Moscow hosted a meeting of the Russia-Islamic World Strategic Vision Group with ambassadors from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states.
The key speakers included Mr. Marat Khusnullin, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation; Mr. Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, and Rais Rustam Minnikhanov of the Republic of Tatarstan, who leads the Russia-Islamic World Strategic Vision Group.
The Russian Orthodox Church was represented by Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations (DECR); archpriest Vladimir Samoilenko, head of the Kazan Metropolis’s Department for Cooperation with the Armed Forces; hieromonk Grigory (Matrusov), a DECR staff member; and priest Nikolai Vasin, DECR chairman’s secretary.
Among those attending the meeting were also Sheikh-ul-Islam Talgat Tadzhuddin, the Supreme Mufti of Russia and chairman of the Central Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Russia; Mufti Albir Krganov, chairman of the Spiritual Assembly of Muslims of Russia; Mufti Kamil Samigullin, chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Republic of Tatarstan; Mufti Rushan Abbyasov, deputy chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation; H.E. Farit Mukhametshin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova and advisor to the chairman of the Russia-Islamic World Strategic Vision Group; Mr. Yevgeny Yeremin, head of the Department for Interaction with Religious Organizations of the Presidential Domestic Policy Directorate; Mr. Grigory Karasin, chair of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs; religious and public figures, representatives of the academic community, journalists and ambassadors of the OIC countries.
The meeting was dedicated to the results of the Russia-Islamic World Strategic Vision Group’s activity in 2024 and plans for 2025, in particular, to the 16th International Economic Forum "Russia-Islamic World: KazanForum", which will take place in May.
