Easter reception takes place at Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem

On the evening of April 21, Monday of Bright Week, the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem hosted a festive reception for clergy and diplomats on the feast of Easter.

Archimandrite Vassian (Zmeyev) and Hegumen Nikon (Golovko), the head and the deputy head of the Mission, respectively, welcomed honorary guests at the entrance, the Mission’s website reports.

Among those who attended the reception were H.E. Anatoly Viktorov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the State of Israel; Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina; Archimandrite Roman (Krassovsky), head of the Ecclesiastical Mission of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia; abbess Yekaterina (Chernysheva) of the Gorny Convent in Ein Karem; abbess Elisabeth (Shmelic) of the Convent of St. Mary Magdalene in the Garden of Gethsemane; vice-abbess Yekaterina (Samara) of the Convent of the Ascension of the Lord on the Mount of Olives; as well as the clergy and staff of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission.

At the beginning of the the reception, Archimandrite Vassian greeted the guests with a welcoming speech.

During the festive meal, prepared by the sisters of the Mission, the choir of graduates of the Sretensky Theological Seminary was singing Easter liturgical hymns.
