Representatives of Russian Ecclesiastical Mission congratulate His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem on Easter

On April 21, Monday of Bright Week, Archimandrite Vassian (Zmeyev), head of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem, the clergy and staff of the Mission attended a gala reception in the Grand Throne Hall of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem on the occasion of the feast of Easter hosted by His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos III of the Holy City of Jerusalem and All Palestine.

Among those who attended the reception were also the hierarchs and clergy of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem; clergy of Brotherhood of the Holy Sepulchre; Archimandrite Roman (Krassovsky), head of the Ecclesiastical Mission of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia; Abbess Yekaterina (Chernysheva) of the Gorny Convent in Ein Karem with sisters; numerous representatives of the Orthodox community of Jerusalem; as well as officials and pilgrims, the Mission’s website reports.

During the reception, the choir of graduates of the Sretensky Theological Seminary was singing Easter liturgical hymns in Church Slavonic and Greek.

Archimandrite Vassian conveyed to Patriarch Theophilos welcoming addresses from His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus' and Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Department for External Church Relations. Then the head and clergy of the Mission congratulated His Beatitude on the feast and presented him with Easter gifts and flowers.

His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos warmly welcomed the Russian clergy and sisters of the Gorny convent, thanked them for the gifts and exchanged three kisses with them as an Easter salutation.
