Construction of a Russian Orthodox wooden church in Munich will begin in April

On March 21, Archbishop Tikhon of Ruza, the ruling hierarch of the Diocese of Berlin and Germany, held a working meeting on matters relating to the construction of a wooden church at the parish of the Resurrection of Christ in Munich.
Attending the meeting were archpriest Nikolay Zabelich, rector of the parish; reader Matvey Kobro, secretary of the parish and project coordinator; Mr. Sergei Chernyshov, the static engineer, Mr. Grigory Sokolov and Mr. Konstantin Terekhov, heads of the construction companies; members of the parish working group and design specialists. Mr. Andrei N. Obolensky, a Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts, who is the author and architect of the project, joined the discussion online.
It was noted during the meeting that after a long period of static analysis done with the supervising engineer of the city of Munich, permission for construction of the walls and roof of the church was obtained.
The engineers and the builders discussed composite constructional details and realization of the project. The start of the construction is scheduled for April 2025, website of the Diocese of Berlin and Germany reports.
On March 23, Mr. Obolensky visited the construction site.
