DECR representative attends a scientific and practical conference on the friendship of nations

On March 17, a scientific and practical conference "Friendship of the Nations of the Soviet Union as a Key Factor in the Victory of the Soviet People in the Great Patriotic War" took place at the International Trade Center in Moscow. The event was organized by the Center for Scientific and Methodological Support of State Cultural Policy and Traditional Spiritual and Moral Values of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation with the assistance of the Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs.
Among those who attended the conference were Mr. Vladimir Yu. Zorin, chairman of the Commission of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation on Interethnic, Interreligious Relations and Migration; Mufti Rushan Abbyasov, deputy chairman of the Spiritual Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation; Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ramazan Abdulatipov; Mr. Farid Kh. Mukhametshin, chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan; Mr. Stanislav Ye. Prokofiev, rector of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation; Colonel General Vladimir A. Shamanov, deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on the Development of Civil Society and Issues of Public and Religious Associations; Mr. Boris S. Ebzeyev, member of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation, and others.
Addresses of welcome to the participants were sent by Mr. Sergei V. Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation; Ms. Olga B. Lyubimova, Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation; Mr. Grigory B. Karasin, chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs; and Mr. Yevgeny A. Primakov, head of the Rossotrudnichestvo.
Speaking at the conference with the blessing of Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate (DECR), was hieromonk Grigory (Matrusov), a DECR staff member.
