His Holiness Patriarch Kirill sends letter to His Beatitude Patriarch John X of Antioch concerning tragic developments in Syria
DECR Communication Service, 11/03/2025
His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’ sent a letter to the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Antioch following the tragic developments in Syria.
PATRIARCH OF THE GREAT ANTIOCH AND ALL THE EAST
Your Beatitude,
Beloved in the Lord Brother and Concelebrant at God’s Altar,
I send you my cordial greetings and wishes of peace, good health and almighty help from God in your arduous Patriarchal service.
Having received the alarming news of the tragic developments in Syria and the death of great many innocent people, including our Christian brothers and sisters, I would like to express my sincere support to Your beloved Beatitude and the apostolic Church of the Great Antioch led by you.
We fully support your efforts aimed at defending the Christian community in Syria and restoring peace and unity in the country. I assure you, dear brother, that the Russian Orthodox Church, which had the bitter experience of suffering in its history, offers fervent prayers for the sisterly Church of Antioch and its children in this time of hardships.
For Your Beatitude’s information, I attach to this letter the text of the statement issued by our Synodal Department for Church’s Relations with Society and Mass Media. In my prayers I ask the Merciful Lord to protect the Church of Antioch from every affliction and tribulation, console and bless his people with peace (Ps 29:11) in the wounded Syrian land.
With brotherly love in Christ,
PATRIARCH OF MOSCOW AND ALL RUS’
Patriarch
