In Trier, the memory of fallen Soviet prisoners of war was honored

DECR Communication service, 03.03.2025.
On February 28, a memorial service was held at the main cemetery in Trier, Germany, at the memorial site where 612 Soviet citizens are buried—soldiers of the Great Patriotic War who died in captivity and civilians forcibly taken by the Nazis for forced labor. This was reported by the Telegram channel of the Consulate General in Bonn. The litia (memorial service) was conducted by Priest Alexander Maslennikov, rector of the Parish of the Forty Martyrs of Sebaste in the city of Trier-Wittlich.
Those gathered to honor the memory of the deceased included the Consul General of the Russian Federation in Bonn, O.Y. Krasnitsky; Senior Counselor of the Russian Embassy in Luxembourg, S.V. Parinov; staff of diplomatic missions; and Russian-speaking compatriots. Wreaths were laid at the memorial.
According to TASS, the commemorative ceremony took place ahead of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the city from Nazi forces, which occurred on March 2, 1945.
