His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Porfirije receives Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk

On 24^th February 2025, with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’ and at the invitation of His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Porfirije, the chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, arrived in Belgrade on a working visit.

Meeting the DECR chairman at the Belgrade airport were Bishop Aleksije of Hvostno, vicar of the Serbian Patriarch; Archpriest Đorđe Stojisavljević, head of the Cabinet of the Serbian Patriarch; and Archpriest Vitaly Tarasyev, rector of the Russian Orthodox Church’s Metochion in Belgrade.

Metropolitan Anthony is accompanied on his visit by Archpriest Nikolai Balashov, adviser to the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’.

On 25^th February, His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Porfirije received Metropolitan Anthony and Archpriest Nikolai Balashov on the premises of the Serbian Patriarchate. They were joined by Metropolitan Irinej of Bačka and Archpriest Đorđe Stojisavljević. Discussed at the meeting were various issues of fraternal cooperation between the Moscow and Serbian Patriarchates and between the peoples of Russia and Serbia, as well as the current state of affairs in the Orthodox world.
