Blessing of the frescoes takes place in St Mary Magdalene Cathedral in Madrid

On February 15th, the Feast of the Meeting of our Lord God and Saviour Jesus Christ, Metropolitan Nestor of Korsun and Western Europe, Patriarchal Exarch of Western Europe, administrator of the Diocese of Spain and Portugal, officiated at the Divine Liturgy in the Cathedral of St. Mary Magdalene, Equal-to-the-Apostles, in Madrid.
Concelebrating with Metropolitan Nestor were the following hierarchs of the Exarchate of Western Europe: Archbishop Elisey of the Hague and the Netherlands, Bishop Amvrosy of Bogorodsk and Bishop Peter of Kaffa, website of the Korsun Diocese reports.
Taking part in the divine service were also local clerics – Archpriest Nikolai Yefimchuk, Priest Andrei Borisyuk and Priest Michael Hellenbdand; as well as Hieromonk Irinei (Gribov), dean of St Genevieve of Paris Religious and Educational Centre; Priest Daniil Neberezhny, cleric of the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Paris; Deacon Gleb Zaika, secretary of the diocesan administration of the Diocese of Spain and Portugal; and Deacon Alexy Vedyashkin.
The Litany of Fervent Supplication was followed by the prayers for peace in Ukraine read by Metropolitan Nestor.
After the Liturgy, the archpastors and pastors offered prayers of praise before the icon of the Meeting of the Lord. After that, the hierarchs performed the blessing of the cathedral’s frescoes.
The Patriarchal Exarch delivered a homily, in which he thanked the archpastors of the Western Europe Exarchate for the concelebration and extended greetings to all those present on the occasion of the feast and the blessing of the frescoes.
