Church representative takes part in celebrations in Antalya on Diplomats’ Day

On February 10th, the Day of the Diplomatic Worker, Priest Alexei Golovin, who takes pastoral care of the Russian-speaking faithful of the Russian Orthodox Church in Antalya, Turkey, attended a special event held at the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Antalya.
Among those who took part in the celebrations were heads of various non-governmental organisations, Russian schools’ principles and representatives of the diasporas. The guests warmly congratulated the Consulate staff, wishing them further success in their work for the benefit of the homeland. Special gratitude was expressed to the Consul General of the Russian Federation in Antalya, Mr Sergei Vetrik, for the support provided to the compatriots and the faithful of the Russian Orthodox Church, telegram channel of the Russian Orthodox Church’s communities in Turkey reports.
Later that day, as part of the Remembrance Garden International Campaign, trees were planted in the territory of the Russian Consulate General in Antalya. It was timed to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War to be celebrated later this later. The campaign’s goal is to plant 27 million plants in commemoration of the 27 million people who died in the Great Patriotic War.
During the celebrations, pupils of the local schools gave a concert performance. They sang, danced and recited poems composed by Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov, Rossotrudnichestvo website reports.
