Representative of the Russian Orthodox Church meets with Russia’s Ambassador to Syria

On 30^th January, Archimandrite Philip (Vasiltsev), Representative of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ to the Patriarchal Throne of Antioch, met with Mr Alexander Yefimov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Syrian Arab Republic. The meeting took place at the Ambassador’s residence in Damascus.

Archimandrite Philip conveyed to Mr Yefimov and the staff of the Russian Embassy greetings from Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, who had visited Lebanon on 25^th– 26^th January 2025 with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill.

The participants in the meeting discussed at length various matters of importance pertaining to the activity of the Russian Orthodox Church’s Representation in Damascus and the work of the Prosthetics and Rehabilitation Centre functioning at the Representation, as well as the issues of mutual interest, Representation’s website reports.

Taking part in the meeting was also Dr H. Nasrallah, head of the Prosthetics and Rehabilitation Centre.
