Reception held at the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem for the feast of the Nativity of Christ

In the evening of 8^th January, in accordance with years-long tradition, a festive reception was held at the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem for the feast of the Nativity of Christ.

Greetings were made for those gathered by the head of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission archimandrite Vassian (Zmeyev), reports the website of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission.

Attending the event were the Russian ambassador to Israel A. D. Victorov, the Belarusian ambassador to Israel Ye. S. Vorobyov, the Serbian ambassador to Israel M. Petrović, the ambassador of Kazakhstan to Israel D. T. Yemberdiev, the Russian representative to the Palestinian National Authority G. L. Bauchidze, advisors of the Russian embassy in Israel F. V. Georgi, T. S. Kotbashian and A. V. Sakharov, the head of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission under the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia (ROCOR) archimandrite Roman (Krasovsky), the mother superiors of the ROCOR convents in Jerusalem abbess Elisabeth (Shmelts) and abbess Barbara (Novikova), the mother superior of the Gornay convent in Ein Karem abbess Catherine (Chernysheva), the sacristans of the metochions of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem in the Holy Land, deputy head of the Mission abbot Nikon (Golovko), the inmates and workers of the Mission and other officials.

Singing before those gathered was the students’ choir of Sretensky theological seminary with a selection for the guests of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem of Christmas church hymns and carols.
