Commission on Old-Rite Parishes and Cooperation with the Old-Rite Community holds it meeting

On 23^rd December 2024, the Commission on Old-Rite Parishes and Cooperation with the Old-Rite Community held its meeting at the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate. Presiding at the meeting was DECR chairman Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, who also serves as the Commission chair (Minute No. 114 of 13^th October 2022).

Taking part in the meeting were Metropolitan Jonathan (Yeletskikh), Archbishop Yustinian of Elista and Kalmykia, Archbishop Stefan of Gomel and Zhlobin, Archbishop Amfilokhy of Ust-Kamenogorsk and Semipalatinsk, Bishop Sofrony of Gubkin and Grayvoron, as well as Archpriest Igor Yakimchuk, DECR deputy chairman, and other Commission members.

Archpriest Ioann Mirolyubov, Commission secretary and head of the Patriarchal Centre of the Old Russian Liturgical Tradition, presented a report on the Commission’s work in 2024. The report, adopted after deliberations, will be submitted for consideration to the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church.

The Commission members also discussed the current state of the dialogue with the Russian Orthodox Old Believer Church and steps towards it further advancement.
