Hero of Russia Andrei Karlov, Russian Ambassador to Turkey, was commemorated in Demre

On December 19th, in the Turkish town of Demre, at a memorial to Hero of Russia Andrei Karlov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Turkey, Priest Georgy Sergeyev, who is responsible for taking pastoral care of the Moscow Patriarchate’s flock in the territory of Turkey, celebrated the Litiya for the late Ambassador. Attending the memorial service were representatives of the mayor’s office and administration of Demre, as well as a representative of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Antalya.
After the Litiya, those present laid flowers at the memorial.
Commemorative events continued at the Demre Town Hall. Displayed there are exhibits from the Antalya Museum named after Andrei Karlov. The town hall also became a venue of an exhibition of the Russian painters’ works. During a commemorative meeting, Ms Maria Golovina, its organizer, read out a message from the wife of the late Ambassador, Marina Karlova. Among those who spoke at the meeting were also Priests Georgy Sergeyev and Alexy Golovin; Mr A.Ye. Ryumkov, vice-consul of Russia’s Consulate General in Antalya; Ms Kseniya Alykan, president of the Society of the Russian-speaking Orthodox Christians in Antalya Province; as well as representatives of the Russian non-governmental organizations in Antalya.
