Abbess Varvara of the Mount of Olives Convent receives congratulations from clergy of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission on her Name Day

On December 17, the commemoration day of the Great Martyr Barbara of Heliopolis, abbess Varvara (Novikova) of the Russian Convent of the Ascension of our Lord on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem, the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia (ROCOR), celebrated her Name Day.
Officiating at the Divine Liturgy on this high day in the Convent’s Cathedral of the Ascension was archimandrite Roman (Krassovsky), chief of the ROCOR Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem. Taking part in the service were hieromonk Amvrosy (Ignatov), sacristan of the Metochion of the Holy Forefathers in Hebron, the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission, and hieromonk Filofey (Artyushin) of the Mission.
Abbess Varvara (Novikova), abbess Elizabeth (Smelic) of St. Mary Magdalene Convent in Gethsemane, and sisters of both convents were praying in the church.
The cathedral church was filled with a multitude of worshipers and pilgrims who came to share the joy of mother Varvara's Name Day with her.
During the Litany of Fervent Supplication, special petitions were offered for the health and salvation of abbess Varvara. After that, archimandrite Roman read the prayer for peace.
The hymns were sung by the sisters’ choir of the Mount of Olives Convent.
At the end of the divine service, archimandrite Roman addressed mother Varvara with words of congratulations and wished her God's aid in carrying out her duties.
The abbess and sisters of the Gethsemane convent and the clergy of the two Missions congratulated abbess Varvara on her Name Day during the festive meal offered to the clergy and guests of the convent.
Among those congratulating mother Varvara with gifts and flowers were abbess Yekaterina (Chernysheva) of the Gorney convent in Ein Karem and sisters of the abode, hieromonk Peter (Borodulin) and deacon Makary Petukhov of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission, the Mission’s website reports.
