DECR Сhairman completes his visit to Bahrain

On December 11th, at the conclusion of his working trip to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain and met with the Ministry’s General Director of Bilateral Relations – Shaikh Abdullah bin Ali Al Khalifa.
The participants in the meeting exchanged opinions on the current international agenda and discussed various issues pertaining to the traditional moral values and religious freedom.
That same day later, Metropolitan Anthony visited the Al-Fadel and Al-Fateh Mosques in Manama, as well as the Matam Al-Arrayed Shiite Cultural Centre and a Jewish synagogue, and met with representatives of the local Hindu community.
During his trip to Bahrain, the DECR chairman also visited the Bahrain National Museum. There, accompanied by Shaikh Khalifa Ben Ahmed Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, he attended an exposition dedicated to the history of the Kingdom.
In the evening of December 11th, Metropolitan Anthony and other members of the Russian Orthodox Church’s delegation departed from Bahrain. Seeing them off at the local airport were Mr Alexei Skosyrev, Russia’s Ambassador to Bahrain, and senior officials of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence.
