Bishop Alexy of Vienna and Austria officiates celebration of patronal feast at the church in Laa an der Thaya
DECR Communication Service, 25.11.2024.
On November 21, Orthodox Christians celebrate the Synaxis of the Archangel Michael and the other Heavenly Bodiless Powers. As the feast falls on a weekday this year, Bishop Alexy of Vienna and Austria gave his blessing for celebrating the patronal feast of the parish of St. Michael the Archangel in Laa an der Thaya, Austria, on Sunday, so that as many parishioners as possible could attend.
The festive service on November 24 was celebrated by Bishop Alexy, the ruling hierarch of the Diocese of Vienna and Austria. Rev. Vladislav Azevs, rector of the parish, assisted.
Praying at the divine service were worshippers from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Austria.
After the Litany of Fervent Supplication, Bishop Alexy offered up a prayer for the early restoration of peace, the diocesan website reports.
At the end of the Liturgy, the archpastor delivered a sermon. Rev. Vladislav Azevs thanked him for their common prayer and congratulated everyone on the feast day.
Then the hierarch gave his archpastoral blessing to the worshipers.
