Conference dedicated to centennial of the Holy Trinity Russian church is held in Belgrade

On November 15, the Palace of Serbia hosted an international scientific conference “100 years of the Holy Trinity church of the Russian Orthodox Church and its relations with the Serbian Orthodox Church”, organized by the Government of Serbia and the Metochion of the Russian Orthodox Church in Belgrade.
The conference was attended by an official delegation of the Russian Orthodox Church, which has arrived in Serbia to participate in the celebration of the centennial of the Russian Metochion in Belgrade. Heading the delegation was Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations. He addressed the participants, organizers and guests of the international forum with a welcome speech.
Greetings were delivered by Bishop Nectarije of London and Great Britain and Ireland, representative of His Holiness Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia; archpriest Vitaly Tarasjev, rector of the Metochion of the Russian Orthodox Church in Belgrade; Mr. Nenad Popović, leader of the Serbian People's Party and minister without portfolio in the Government of the Republic of Serbia, and H.E. Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Serbia .
The conference brought together distinguished scholars from Serbia, the Republic of Srpska, and the Russian Federation. The presentations were made by the leading Slavic scholars from Russia Ms.Yelena Yu.Guskova, Ms. Yelena.A. Bondareva and Ms. Natalia A. Narochnitskaya, their Serbian colleagues A. Raković and A. Mitić; archpriest Darko Djogo, vice-dean at the Orthodox Theological Faculty, University of East Sarajevo; archpriest Jovan Milanović, rector of the theological seminary in Sremski Karlovci; Dr. Marko Nikolić, assistant director of the Administration for cooperation with churches and religious communities at the Serbian Ministry of Justice, and Dr. Zoltan Nedeljković, director of the Library of the Serbian Patriarchate. Mr. Andrei Yu. Khoshev of the DECR Secretariat for Inter-Orthodox relations presented a report on the history of the Russian Orthodox Church Metochion in Belgrade.
The international conference being over, a gala reception was given in honour of its participants and guests at the Palace of Serbia.
