DECR Chairman meets with President of the Italian Bishops’ Conference

On October 15, the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations (DECR) hosted a meeting of its chairman, Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, with Cardinal Matteo Maria Zuppi, President of the Italian Bishops’ Conference and the Pope's Special Envoy to seek peace in Ukraine. He was accompanied by his delegation that included Archbishop Giovanni d'Aniello, Apostolic Nuncio to the Russian Federation.

They were joined in the meeting by Archimandrite Philaret (Bulekov) and Archpriest Igor Yakimchuk, DECR deputy chairmen.

Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk welcomed the guests on behalf of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus'.

During the conversation, the parties discussed humanitarian issues related to the conflict in Ukraine, as well as other issues of mutual interest.
