On the Feast of the Intercession of the Theotokos, Patriarchal Exarch of Africa celebrates Liturgy in Cameroon’s capital

On the 14^th of October, Feast of the Intercession of our Most Holy Lady the Mother of God and Ever-Virgin Mary, Metropolitan Konstantin of Zaraysk, Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Resurrection Parish in the capital of Cameroon, Yaoundé.

Among his concelebrants were Priest George Maximov, chairman of the Missionary Department of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa; Priest Paul Atangana, local dean; and Cameroonian clerics.

A pre-Communion sermon was given by Rev. George Maximov.

After the Liturgy, Metropolitan Konstantin delivered an archpastoral homily, extending warm greetings to the faithful on the occasion of the Feast of the Intercession of the Most Holy Mother of God.

His Eminence presented to the parish an icon of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. All those who attended the divine service also received crosses and small icons, Exarchate’s website reports.

The Liturgy was followed by a general meeting of the Cameroonian clergy of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa, chaired by Metropolitan Konstantin. Rev. George Maximov also took part in the meeting. Discussion centred on the ways to organize and promote parochial life of the local faithful, as well as on various matters of pastoral care. At the conclusion of the meeting, His Eminence presented memorable gifts to the clerics.

After that Metropolitan Konstantin interviewed those who expressed a wish to enrol in a theological seminary.

Later that day, the hierarch visited the Parish of the Great Martyr Demetrios of Thessaloniki. There is an orphanage located in the territory of the parish. It is supervised by the parish priest, Rev. John Bessala.

Meeting His Eminence there were parishioners and orphanage wards. In honour of the archpastoral visit, a concert was organized.

Metropolitan Konstantin talked with the faithful, inspected the orphanage building and living conditions of the children. His Eminence also brought a food gift for the orphans.
