Report on church relief efforts in Kursk and Belgorod regions for 1st September

Since 7th August, the Synodal Department for Charity has received 706 calls (2 calls came on 1st September) from the Kursk region to its hotline 8-800-70-70-222, diaconia.ru reports.

Since 6th August, 640 people (211 families) from the Kursk region and 15 people (6 families) from the Belgorod region have appealed for help to the Moscow Headquarters for Refugee Assistance operating under the Synodal Department for Charity.
Since 6th August, the Moscow Headquarters has received 1417 aid deliveries from churches, monasteries and concerned Muscovites.
On 1st September, 17 people (6 families) from the Kursk region and 4 people (one family) from the Belgorod region sought assistance at the Moscow Headquarters. Compared to the day before, the number of help-seeking families did not change. All of them stay with their relatives and friends. All the families received foodstuffs, hygiene and cleaning products. Upon request, bedclothes, pillows and blankets were also provided.

Two staff members and four volunteers of the Synodal Department for Charity are now working at three temporary accommodation centres in the Kursk region.

The Belgorod Diocese clergymen visit patients in Belgorod hospitals, who had been wounded in the shelling attack on 31st August. At the moment, 80 injured people are undergoing treatment in medical institutions, twelve of them are children.
