Church relief efforts in Kursk and Belgorod regions as of 25th August

Volunteers and parishioners of the Church of Saints Peter and Paul in the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky have collected ten boxes of humanitarian cargo for people affected by the hostilities in the Kursk region. The humanitarian aid has been delivered to Kursk with assistance from volunteers of the Don State Technical University in Rostov-on-Don.

Since 7th August, 625 calls (19 on 25th August) have been made from the Kursk region to the hotline of the Synodal Department for Charity (8-800-70-70-222). Most of the families who phoned the hotline asked for new accommodation, and for one of the families, temporary accommodation was already found in the city of Tula.

Since 6th August, 519 people (169 families) from the Kursk region and 14 people (5 families) from the Belgorod region have appealed for help to the Moscow Headquarters for Refugee Assistance operating under the Synodal Department for Charity.
Since 6th August, the Moscow Headquarters has received 1,212 aid deliveries from churches, monasteries and concerned Muscovites.
On 25th August, five people (3 families) from the Kursk region sought assistance at the Moscow Headquarters. Compared to the previous day, the number of help-seeking families decreased. Almost all of them found temporary accommodation at their relatives’ and friends’ homes. All the families received foodstuffs, hygiene and cleaning products. Upon request, pillows, bedclothes, blankets and kitchenware were also provided.
