Hierarch of the Church of Jerusalem officiates on the patronal feast of the Mission’s metochion in Haifa

On August 2, the commemoration day of St. Elijah the Prophet, the patronal feast of the Haifa metochion of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission, Metropolitan Kiriak of Nazareth officiated at the Divine Liturgy with the blessing of His Beatitude Theophilos of the Holy City of Jerusalem and All Palestine, the Mission’s website reports.

Concelebrating with His Eminence were archimandrite Vassian (Zmeyev), head of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem; archpriest Miroslav Vitiv, the sacristan; deacon Makary Petukhov, and clergymen of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem.

Praying at the Liturgy were abbess Yekaterina (Chernysheva) of the Gorny Convent in Ein Karem with sisters, parishioners of the metochion, and numerous representatives of the Arabic-speaking Orthodox communities of Haifa, Nazareth and Bethlehem. The service was celebrated in the Church Slavonic, Greek and Arabic languages. The choir of the sisters of the Gorny Convent was singing.

After the dismissal, the clergy went on the procession with the cross. A festive meal for all the guests followed.
