DECR representative meets with parishioners of the Church of the Great Martyr George in Kenya

On July 7, 2024, at the St. George Parish in the village of Ngamba in Kenya, the Dean Priest Jacob Karanja celebrated the Divine Liturgy. The service was attended by Subdeacon Philip Champion, Consultant of the Secretariat for Inter-Christian Relations of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate.
With the blessing of the DECR Chairman, Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, Subdeacon P. Champion is in Kenya on a working visit as a representative of the Russian Orthodox Church in the Commission on World Mission and Evangelisation of the World Council of Churches, reports the website of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa.
After the service, Subdeacon P. Champion conveyed to the congregation heartfelt greetings from their Orthodox brothers and sisters from Russia, noting that the future of the Orthodox Church is inextricably linked with the African continent.
The guest from Russia gave a talk to the faithful, after which he presented all the parishioners with prayer ropes and crosses brought from the Holy Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius.
