Chairman of the DECR delivers lecture at the Don Theological Seminary

10^th June 2024 the chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate the metropolitan of Volokolamsk Anthony delivered a lecture at the Don Theological Seminary.

Metropolitan Anthony spoke of the work of the DECR, which is the oldest Synodal institution of the Russian Orthodox Church. The metropolitan especially accented the various directions of work which the DECR pursues, including the sphere of inter-Orthodox relations, inter-Christian and inter-religious dialogue and the pastoral care of Russians living abroad.

Attending the meeting were the metropolitan of Rostov and Novocherkassk Mercury, the first deputy of the governor of the Rostov region Igor Guskov, auxiliary bishop of the diocese of Rostov the bishop of Taganrog Artemius, the culture minister of the Rostov region Anna Dmitrieva, the acting head of the emergency services in Rostov colonel Alexander Savukov, the deputy head of the interior ministry for the Rostov region police major general Timur Marunchak, members of the diocesan council, the directors of the diocesan departments, the area deans of the Rostov-on-the-Don diocese, the clergy of the Shakhtinsk and Volgodonsk diocese that form part of the Don metropolitanate, the mother superior of the Iberian Convent of Our Lady, students of the theological seminary, representatives of the regional Rostov authorities, law-enforcement agencies, the legislative assembly of the Rostov region and a representative of the Assyrian Church of the East. The moderator of the event was the rector of the Don Theological Seminary archpriest Timofei Fetisov, reports the website of the Rostov-on-the-Don diocese.

At the conclusion of the meeting the head of the Don metropolitanate expressed his gratitude to the chairman of the Department of External Church Relations for the lecture and noted the importance and need for further cooperation between the diocese of Rostov-on-the-Don and the Department for External Church Relations.
