Liturgy is celebrated at the burial place of St. John the Theologian

On May 21, the commemoration day of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian, Rev. Georgy Sergeyev, who is taking care of the Russian-speaking faithful in the Republic of Turkey, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the basilica built on the site of the Apostle’s tomb in the Turkish city of Selçuk near Ephesus.
Praying and receiving Holy Communion were pilgrims who have arrived from Moscow, London, Istanbul, Izmir, Kuşadasi and Didim.
Special petitions were offered and a prayer for Holy Rus' was read at the Litany of Fervent Supplication.
At the end of the Liturgy, Fr Georgy delivered a sermon and thanked the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism for the permission to celebrate, and the Solzhenitsyn Association of Russian language and literature study and its chairman, Mr. Andrei V. Ponomarev, for assistance in arranging the pilgrimage.
