House of prayer of an Orthodox community expelled from its church was set on fire in the Ukrainian village of Korobchyno

On the night of the 27th of April 2024, unknown people set on fire the house where the believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church prayed after the seizure of the Church of the Dormition of the Mother of God in the village of Korobchino (Kirovograd region of Ukraine). The incident was reported by the Information and Education Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church with reference to the press service of the Kirovohrad diocese.
As a result of the arson, the walls, the temporary altar table and the table of oblation had burned down.
The church was taken away from the believers two years ago. The parish in Korobchyno was "transferred" to the "OCU" in October 2022, despite the protests of the believers, who confirmed their loyalty to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
The parishioners, driven out of their home church, had to find a new place to pray. "The temporary refuge of the persecuted congregation was a village house, which had been organised by the efforts of the believers for worship. However, someone had decided that even in such limited conditions Orthodox believers had no right to pray. That is how someone congratulated the Orthodox Christians in the village of Korobkino on Easter!" – states the Diocesan message.
The diocese asks for prayers for the Orthodox community of the village and prays for the enmity of those who oppose the believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
