His Holiness the Patriarch of Serbia Profirije arrives in Moscow

On 15th March 2024 the primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church His Holiness Patriarch Porfirije arrived in Moscow to take part in the funeral and burial of the representative of the Patriarch of Serbia to the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, dean of the Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul at the Yauza Gates in Moscow, which also serves as the representation church (metochion) of the Serbian Orthodox Church, the bishop of Moravica Anthony. Bishop Anthony reposed in the Lord on 11th March 2024.
The Patriarch of Serbia Porfirije was met at Vnukovo International Airport by the chairman of the Department of External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate the metropolitan of Volokolamsk Anthony, advisor to the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia archpriest Nikolai Balashov, deputy chairman of the DECR archpriest Igor Yakimchuk, head of protocol at the DECR abbot Theophan (Lukianov), cleric of the metochion of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Moscow archimandrite Alexander (Kotov), the brother of bishop Anthony and cleric of the Šabac diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church archpriest Milan Pantelic, and representative of the secretariat for inter-Orthodox relations at the DECR A. Yu. Khoshev. Among those meeting the Serbian Patriarch were the Serbian ambassador to Russia Momcilo Babic.
Arriving with Patriarch Profirije in Moscow were the bishop of Bačka Irinej, the bishop of Upper Karlovac Gerasim, the bishop of Valjevo Isihije, the bishop of Remesiana Stefan, the bishop of Jegra Nektarije, the bishop of Toplica Petr, archpriest George Stojslavevic, deacon Dragan Radic, deacon Ivan Vasiljevic, deacon Miroslav Nikolic, subdeadean Dejan Nakic and subdeacon Vladimir Jelic.
On Saturday 16th March His Holiness the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia and His Holiness the Patriarch of Serbia Porfirije headed the Divine Liturgy and the funeral of bishop Anthony at the Christ the Saviour Cathedral in Moscow. The service began at ten o’clock in the morning.
