Chairman of the DECR meets with Indian nuns.

On 24th February in Kottayam the chairman of the Department of External Church Relations the metropolitan of Volokolamsk Anthony on his working visit to India met with the mother superiors and inmates of convents of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church.
Among those attending the meeting were the mother superior of the Virgin of Bethlehem Convent in the city of Ernakulam in India nun Dina and sister of the convent nun Sheba, who had earlier visited with the blessing of His Holiness the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia the Convent of the Presentation of the Virgin in Tolga under the metropolitanate of Yaroslavl. They were there to study the monastic experience of the Russian Orthodox Church and how it could in future be applied in Indian monastic houses.
During the meeting the chairman of the DECR noted the importance of helping Indian Christian to become acquainted with the Russian monastic tradition as part of a project under the auspices of the working group for the development of bilateral relations between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Malankara Church.
In turn, the Indian nuns thanked metropolitan Anthony for the opportunity to come to know the monastic tradition of the Russian Orthodox Church and expressed their interest in developing the project further.
