His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia sent congratulations to Mr Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on his re-election as President of the Arab Republic of Egypt. The text of the letter is given below:

Dear Mr President,

Please accept my congratulations on your re-election as President of the Arab Republic of Egypt.

The election results have convincingly demonstrated that the people support your state-building policy aimed at ensuring greater social stability and security and carrying out necessary socio-economic reforms promoting the welfare of your fellow citizens.

Our two peoples have long-standing friendly relations, with Russia’s and Egypt’s religious communities contributing substantially to their further development. The Russian Orthodox Church directs particular attention to strengthening its ties with the Egyptian Christians and Muslims. I would like to hope that you will support this mutually beneficial dialogue.

I wish you good health and success as you continue your work as President, and I wish peace and prosperity to the people of Egypt.
