DECR Communication Service, 19/12/2023
On December 19, commemoration day of St. Nicholas the Archbishop of Myra in Lycia, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated in the Cathedral of St. Nicholas in Bangkok. Officiating at the Liturgy was Metropolitan Sergy of Singapore and South-East Asia, Patriarchal Exarch of South-East Asia, temporary administrator of the Diocese of Thailand.
As the Exarchate’s Telegram channel reports, concelebrating with the archpastor on the patronal feast of St. Nicholas Church were Archimandrite Oleg (Cherepanin), rector of St. Nicholas Cathedral and secretary of the Thailand Diocese; Hieromonk Paisiy (Ipate), dean of St. Nicholas Cathedral; Hieromonk Seraphim (Vasiliev), rector of the Church of St. Seraphim of Sarov on the island of Phangan; Hieromonk Alexander (Vashchenko), rector of the Church of the Holy Royal Passion-Bearers in Hua Hin; Hieromonk Micah (Phisayavong), cleric of St. Nicholas Cathedral; Priest Clement Nechamaiya, rector of the Church of the Life-Giving Trinity in Chandrapur, India; Hieromonk German (Borovkov), senior priest at the Holy Dormition Church in Ratchaburi province, Thailand; Priest Pavel Srisumoro, acting rector of the Church of the Holy Right-Believing Prince Vladimir in Chiang Mai; Hierodeacon Yuvenaly (Marushchak), senior deacon of the Patriarchal Exarchate of South-East Asia; and Deacon Victor Teikoksung, cleric of St. Nicholas Cathedral.
The Liturgy was followed by a procession with a cross around the church. Taking part in it were the clergy, the choir and the parishioners. After that, prayers of glorification were offered to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker.
Metropolitan Sergy congratulated all those present on the patronal feast of the church. In his homily, the archpastor noted that St. Nicholas – a great saint pleasing unto God – is always a speedy helper for those hastening to him with an ardent prayer. The hierarch also emphasised the importance of imitating St. Nicholas in performing good works in secret.
Metropolitan Sergy thanked the clergy and the parishioners for the conciliar prayer and gave them his archpastoral blessing.
