In the village of Checheliyevka, Kirovograd region, the temple of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church was seized
On the 11th of November, in the village of Checheliyevka in the Alexandria diocese in Ukraine, unknown people in camouflage and balaclavas broke down the doors and seized the church in honour of the Intercession of the Theotokos of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
According to the Union of Orthodox Journalists, the church has been under litigation for about four years. Until recently, there was an agreement between the community of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and supporters of the "OCU", according to which no one would [actually] enter the church. The rector of the community served in an adapted room on the territory of the parish.
The Intercession Church is an architectural monument, but the supporters of the "OCU" managed to somehow obtain ownership of it. However, there is no court ruling that would allow them to enter the church. The last hearing was held on the 2nd of November, the next one was scheduled for December.
According to eyewitnesses, representatives of the police and the SBU took part in the forceful seizure.
