Representative of Russian Orthodox Church meets with chief secretary of Patriarchate of Antioch

On November 6, Archimandrite Philip (Vasiltsev), representative of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ to the Antiochian Patriarchal Throne, was received by Bishop Romanos of Seleucia, chief secretary of the Holy Synod of Antioch. The meeting took place at the premises of the Patriarchate of Antioch located at Mariamiyah district in Damascus, Syria.
Archimandrite Philip warmly greeted Bishop Romanos, conveyed to him heartfelt congratulations on his appointment to the high post of chief secretary of the Holy Synod from Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, and gave him Metropolitan Anthony’s present – an icon of St. Andrew the First-Called who is venerated in the Russian Orthodox Church as its heavenly patron.
Bishop Romanos asked Archimandrite Philip to convey his cordial gratitude to Metropolitan Anthony and wishes of God’s aid in performing his high and responsible ministry.
Discussed during a long meeting were issues pertaining to cooperation and interaction between the Antiochian and Russian Orthodox Churches, website of the Representation of the Moscow Patriarchate in Damascus reports.
Attending the meeting was hieromonk Kiprian (Zemlyakov), a cleric of the Moscow Metochion of the Orthodox Church of Antioch.
