Holy Trinity Church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church seized in Irpen
On the 25th of October, the Holy Trinity Church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church was seized in the city of Irpen, Kiev region of Ukraine.
The seizure was preceded by an illegitimate "referendum" on the "transfer" of the church to a schismatic structure, organised by the municipal authorities and held in the premises of the city council. It was attended by the Mayor of Irpen Oleksandr Markushin, his deputies, heads of structural subdivisions and ordinary employees of the City Council, deputies, directors and employees of public utilities, as well as by a group of representatives of the "OCU". This was reported by the Information and Education Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church with reference to the TV channel Dozor on First Kazatskyy.
Earlier on the same day, the religious community of Holy Trinity Church held a parish meeting at which it was unanimously decided to remain in the fold of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church headed by His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry of Kiev and All Ukraine. However, the real community of the parish was not allowed to attend the "referendum" in the city council by representatives of law enforcement agencies: only those who signed in favour of the "transition" to the "OCU" were allowed to take part in the meeting.
On the same day, the church was seized and closed, and services were stopped.
