Metropolitan Hilarion of Budapest and Hungary meets with hierarch of the Malankara Church of India

On September 19, Metropolitan Hilarion of Budapest and Hungary met with member of the Holy Synod of Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church of India Metropolitan Abraham Mar Stephanos of the Diocese of United Kingdom, Europe and Africa, who is on a working visit in Budapest.

His Eminence Hilarion told the guest about the history of the Hungarian-Busapest Diocese and about its current affairs.

In his turn, Metropolitan Abraham conveyed greetings to Metropolitan Hilarion from Primate of the Malankara Church of India Catholicos Baselios Marthoma Mathews III; he also shared news on the state of affairs in the Diocese of United Kingdom, Europe and Africa and talked about his impressions of his recent visit to Russia.

The high guest recalled how during his student years at the Malankara Theological Seminary in Kottayam, India, he was attending the lecture in 1995 on Venerable Isaac the Syrian by future Metropolitan Hilarion.

“That year I visited India for the first time, when I was in the final year of my doctorate in Oxford University”, His Eminence Hilarion said.

In conclusion of the meeting, Metropolitan Hilarion showed, to Metropolitan Abraham Mar Stephanos, the Holy Dormition Cathedral of Budapest and presented him with an English version of his book “The Beginning of the Gospel”.
