Primate of the Malankara Church of India visits the Russian Children’s Clinic in Moscow

On September 5, His Holiness Catholicos Mar Thomas Mathews III, the Primate of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, visited the Russian Children’s Clinic (RDKB) as part of his official visit to the Russian Orthodox Church.
His Holiness Catholicos was accompanied by a large group of high-ranking clergy and prominent parishioners. Among his escort were also Metropolitan Leonid of Klin, Patriarchal Exarch for Africa, co-chairman of the Working Group for coordination of bilateral relations between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Malankara Church; Hieromonk Stefan (Igumnov), DECR secretary for inter-Christian relations, and Hierodeacon Petr (Akhmatkhanov), a DECR staff member.
In the Church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos attached to the RDKB, the Primate of the Malankara Church of India and his escort were welcomed by the RDKB director Ms. E.E. Petryaikina and the rector of the church Father Ioann Zakharov, Ms. Petryaikina Introduced the guests to the work of the largest children’s hospital in the country.
Fr. Ioann Zakharov informed the guests about the pastoral care of the children undergoing medical treatment and their parents and about the liturgical work of the parish.
After that the Primate of the Malankara Church of India had a talk with small patients and their parents and presented them with gifts.
