Diocesan meeting of clergy of the Diocese of Singapore takes place in Jakarta

On July 27, 2023, a diocesan meeting of the clergy of the Diocese of Singapore was held at St. Thomas’ church in Jakarta, capital of the Republic of Indonesia, under the chairmanship of Metropolitan Sergiy of Singapore and South-East Asia. It was the largest meeting of clergymen of the Russian Orthodox tradition during the whole history of Orthodoxy in Indonesia.
Attending the conference were the clergymen from Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.
Metropolitan Sergiy told those gathered about the work done by the diocese in the last year, presented data on the number of clerics, churches and parishes. He recalled the significant events for the diocese and noted in particular the growing number of clergymen. At present, there are twenty-five parishes in Indonesia with forty clerics, including the readers, most of whom are Indonesian citizens.
Discussed at the meeting were issues pertaining to social ministry of the Patriarchal Exarchate. In conclusion, Metropolitan Sergiy thanked the participants and gave them his archpastoral blessing, website of the Patriarchal Exarchate of South-East Asia reports.
