The Central Committee of the World Council of Churches completes its session in Geneva

On June 27, the Central Committee of the World Council of Churches completed its session held in Geneva, Switzerland. Among its attendees was a delegation of the Russian Orthodox Church led by the chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate Department for External Church Relations, Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk. The delegation also included Archimandrite Philaret (Bulekov), DECR vice-chairman, Archpriest Mikhail Gundyaev, representative of the Russian Orthodox Church to the World Council of Churches and international organizations in Geneva, Hieromonk Stephen (Igumnov) DECR secretary for inter-Christian relations, and Ms M. B. Nelyubova, a DECR staff member.

On June 21, Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk met with the WCC secretary general Dr Jerry Pillay and WCC leaders on sidelines of the Central Committee meeting.

The WCC Central Committee meeting was held from June 21 to 27 and was devoted to inter-Christian cooperation, topical issues on the international agenda and the functioning of the World Council of Churches in the years ahead.
