Bishop Pitirim of Jakarta attends the Russia Day event

On June 15, at the invitation of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Indonesia L.G. Vorobyeva and with the blessing of Metropolitan Sergius of Singapore and Southeast Asia, Patriarchal Exarch of South East Asia, a reception was attended in Jakarta by Bishop Pitirim of Jakarta, Vicar of the Singapore Diocese, together with clergy from the Exarchate.

The event, which was dedicated to the Russia Day, was attended by representatives of state authorities, public and political, business, academic, artistic and religious circles of Indonesia, compatriots, journalists, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps, the website of the Southeast Asian Patriarchal Exarchate reports. Welcoming remarks were made by the Russian Ambassador to Indonesia L.G. Vorobyeva, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to ASEAN E.T. Zagainov and Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia B.G. Sadikin.

The cultural programme included works by composers P.I. Tchaikovsky and S.V. Rachmaninov performed by graduates of Russian universities, as well as performances by local dance groups and musicians.
