Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk visits the Holy Land

On May 11, with a blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, Chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate Department for External Church Relations, visited Jerusalem accompanied by Archpriest Nikolay Balashov, an adviser to the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia.

At the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, the guests were received by His Beatitude Theophilos III, Patriarch of the Holy City of Jerusalem and All Palestine. Metropolitan Anthony conveyed to the Primate of the Church of Jerusalem warm greetings and best wishes from His Holiness Patriarch Kirill.

In a cordial conversation, they discussed issues of mutual concern including the situation of Christians in the Middle East.

In conclusion of the conversation, His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos and Metropolitan Anthony exchanged tokens of the meeting.

On the same day, Metropolitan Anthony and Archpriest Nikolay Balashov visited the church of the Resurrection of Christ in Jerusalem and venerated the shrines of the Lord’s Sepulchre.
