In Borislav a church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Diocese of Lvov captured by schismatics
DECR Communication Service, 24.04.2023.
On April 22, a church of the Intercession in the city of Borislav, Lvov region, was captured, the website of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Diocese of Lvov reports.
Earlier, on April 8, unknown people blocked the way to the church, penetrated into the church territory, and held an unlawful vote on the ‘transfer’ of the community of the canonical Church to the schismatic ‘OCU’. But for all that, none of the parishioners supported the unlawful vote. The comers wanted to seize the church by force but the parish community members hindered them. The city authorities have sealed up the church ‘till the solution of the problem’.
Since that moment, the community have begun praying in the churchyard.
The community of the church of the Intercession consisting of over three thousand parishioners and the clergy informed the local authority of the decision to remain in the jurisdiction of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church; this decision is fixed in the minutes of the Parish Councils.
The will of the parishioners was ignored by the ‘OCU’ representatives. As is stated in the report of the diocesan website, ‘On April 22, the church was captured. The OCU representatives torn off the seals and changed the locks’.
