Patriarch of Antioch grieves over persecutions against Ukrainian Orthodox Church

“In these days of the Great Lent on the eve of the commemoration of the Holy Salvific Passions of Christ, we have taken with great sorrow the truly painful news about the situation of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church”, stressed His Beatitude John X, Patriarch of Great Antioch and All the East, in his letter to His Holiness Patriarch Krill of Moscow and All Russia. “Today, together with you we are enduring the gravest moments in our and your history”, Patriarch John writes mentioning in particular the ongoing war conflict.
His Beatitude emphasized that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church going through persecutions today, “is entrusted with the task to take care of her people and of the unique church objects which compose the historical heart of the Moscow Patriarchate and the whole Rus’ ”.
“We address to you from our heart craving for the Resurrection which will revive peace and tranquillity on our Earth full of wars and conflicts…” The Primate of the Church of Antioch writes in his letter to Patriarch Kirill, “We pray to the Lord of the Resurrection that He may grant us His peace which will resolve all disputes. Today our hearts are with you in our ardent prayer to Christ the God, the Father of light and God of every consolation”.
